Frequently Asked Questions
The things people ask us most, answered in plain English. Don't see yours? Give us a call — we're happy to help.
Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist?
No. You can book physiotherapy or kinesiology with us directly — no referral needed. That said, some insurance plans ask for a referral before they'll reimburse you, so it's worth a quick check with your provider if you're billing through insurance.
Do you direct bill my insurance?
For most major providers, yes. We direct bill to SGI, WCB, Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, and Canada Life, among others. It depends on your specific plan's rules, so we'll help you confirm what's covered. See how direct billing works →
What's the difference between physiotherapy and kinesiology?
Physiotherapy usually starts with assessing and treating pain, injury, and movement. Kinesiology picks up the thread and keeps building — using exercise and movement coaching to grow strength, balance, and confidence. Think of it as physiotherapy getting the engine running, and kinesiology making sure it goes the distance. Not sure which you need? We'll help you figure it out.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Mostly listening. We'll talk through what's going on, what you've already tried, and what you want to get back to. Then we'll watch how you move and do a hands-on assessment to find where the problem is really coming from. You'll leave with a clear picture and a plan that fits your life.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move in — think the kind of thing you'd wear for a light workout. If we're looking at your knee or hip, shorts can help; for a shoulder, a tank top works well. Don't overthink it; we'll make it work either way.
How long is an appointment?
Your first visit is the longest because we're getting the full story and doing a thorough assessment. Follow-up visits are typically shorter. We'll let you know what to expect when you book. [EDIT: add your actual appointment lengths.]
I've tried everything and nothing's worked. Can you really help?
We hear this a lot. Often when things haven't worked, it's because the real driver of the pain hasn't been found yet — that's exactly what we go looking for. We can't promise a specific outcome, but we can promise to listen, dig for the cause, and work toward your goals with you.
Am I too old for physiotherapy?
Age is just a number. We work with active people of every age who want to keep doing the things they love. You don't always have to stop — sometimes we just have to modify while things settle.
Do you treat car accident (SGI) and workplace (WCB) injuries?
Yes. We work with both SGI and WCB claims and can bill them directly. You don't need a referral to start. Learn more about SGI and WCB billing →
